The ministry was born in the living room of then Pastor Elroy Benn as a result of ten people gathering to pray. Within a short period of time these prayer meetings began touching lives, and the believers sensed the need to take the move of God further. Consequently, on July 8, 1992, the first worship service was held at 952 South Orange Ave, Newark, where space was shared with The Haitian Baptist Church. Several crusades and outreach programs were established and the ministry grew numerically and spiritually. After 2 years, the church moved to 801 Springfield Ave, Irvington where space was again shared with another church, Deliverance Jesus Is Coming. During this period, the membership began looking for a home of their own. In October 2000, Deliverance Christian Fellowship, Inc. was able to purchase property at 488 South Orange Ave, Newark. The membership took occupancy of their new location on 8/25/02 .
